From time to time we receive inquiries as to what should be worn at the convention,
particularly from those who will be joining us for the first time. We offer the following
suggestions: For the men -- casual attire is suitable at all sessions. Some
prefer to get a little dressier for the banquets, but this is not a requirement. Square
dance attire is certainly appropriate but not required. Many wear sweaters during
the day and vests or jackets in the evening. In the past, several people have been
offended by those who wear hats at convention meals. We request that you observe the
courtesy of removing your hat at convention meals.
For the ladies -- casual attire is suitable at all sessions. Most ladies wear
casual clothing during the day and get dressier for the evening banquets. Some ladies
prefer a skirt and blouse, a cocktail dress or similar attire. Square dance attire is
certainly appropriate but not required. There are a couple of scheduled dances
and square dance attire is optional at these functions. Also, since air-conditioning is
ever-present, a light wrap might make life more comfortable. Of the two banquets, people
tend to dress up more for Tuesday evening. |
